Job summary

EC Electric, Inc. is seeking a Payroll Specialist to ensure accurate payroll processing for bargaining employees and to serve as a helpful point of contact for payroll inquiries.

You will collaborate with the payroll team, reconcile reports, and manage garnishments, time & attendance, and various regulated reports. The role requires strong communication, high attention to detail, and experience with payroll systems; construction/union payroll experience is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment with interruptions.
• Experience with Viewpoint or similar payroll software preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Union and construction payroll experience preferred.
• Certified payroll experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage payroll workflow for all bargaining employees accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with payroll team to ensure timely updates.
• Reconcile payroll before transmission and validate reports.
• Understand taxation of employer-paid benefits.
• Process garnishments and compliance.
• Process time and attendance using KeyStyle software.
• Handle unclaimed property payroll checks compliance.
• Develop ad hoc financial and operational reports as needed.
• Process manual checks or stop payments.
• Load import files from other departments for payroll.
• Research and respond to payroll inquiries.
• Weekly, monthly processing of various payroll reports (Certified Payroll, MER, OCIP, L&I affidavits).
• Weekly processing of new hire packets and employment claims.

Job Description

Summary: The Payroll Specialist position will ensure accurate processing and recording of the company’s payroll for all of our Bargaining employees. In addition, this position will act as a customer service agent to internal employees, approaching both management and non-management positions with the highest level of communication to assist with payroll inquiries and document requests.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

1. Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.

2. Collaborating closely with payroll specialist team to ensure timely updates

3. Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.

4. Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits.

5. Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance.

6. Execute time and attendance processing and interface with KeyStyle software.

7. Perform compliances for unclaimed property payroll checks.

8. Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed.

9. Process manual check and/or request for stop payment.

10. Load import files received from other departments as it pertains to payroll (All Companies).

11. Research and respond to appropriate persons regarding items in need of correcting.

12. Weekly running, review and disbursement of Certified Payroll.

13. Monthly processing of MER reports and Market Recovery reporting.

14. Monthly processing of OCIP reporting.

15. Weekly processing of Intents and Affidavits for L&I.

16. Weekly processing of employment claims.

17. Weekly processing of New Hire packets.

Requirements

• Ability to work successfully in a deadline-driven environment with frequent interruptions
• Viewpoint or similar payroll software experience, preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must have a high attention to detail
• Must be very organized
• Outstanding customer service skills
• Proficiency in Word and Excel
• Union payroll experience highly preferred
• Construction payroll/office experience highly preferred
• Certified payroll experience highly preferred

Benefits

Salary range for this position is $60,000-$65,000 annually.

Opportunity for a discretionary year-end bonus.

401k with a 40% employer match (up to federal limit.)
