Job summary

WhidbeyHealth Medical Center is seeking a Payroll Specialist to process bi-weekly payroll and support general accounting functions. You will serve as the primary contact for payroll and accounting questions from employees and managers while ensuring accuracy and timeliness in a healthcare environment.

The role requires an Associate's degree in business, accounting, or finance and at least five years of accounting and payroll experience, preferably in healthcare.

• Experience with general ledger, journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations in a healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time.
• Handle accounts payable and general accounting tasks.
• Perform month-end and year-end close procedures and reconciliations.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and assist with cost reporting as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Payroll Specialist supports the mission of providing quality healthcare to the patients of WhidbeyHealth Medical Center and Clinics by completing timely and accurate accounts payable, general accounting and payroll processing tasks in support of the organization’s financial operations. The Payroll Specialist may be responsible for timely processing of bi-weekly payroll using an electronic payroll system, performing month end and year end procedures including balance sheet account reconciliations, statistical compilation and analysis, cost report record keeping and regulatory compliance. The Payroll Specialist acts as the primary point of contact for employees and managers with questions regarding Payroll and Accounting processes and procedures and may be asked to complete additional tasks as needed to support department functions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance preferred. Five (5) years of experience and knowledge of accounting general ledger including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliation with previous experience processing complex payroll. Prior experience in a healthcare related setting strongly preferred.
