Overview
The Payroll Specialist processes payroll and expenses for a national firm and maintains the company HCM/payroll system to ensure payroll is processed accurately and timely.
Responsibilities
- Utilize ADP timekeeping system to verify payroll data on a weekly basis
- Follow up on any missing/inaccurate timecards
- Update and utilize iContact to send mass email timecard reminders on a weekly basis
- Speak with employees to confirm requested direct deposit changes and process changes
- Process and reconcile payroll and expenses
- Address and resolve any employee payroll and expense issues
- Backup the Onboarding Specialist as needed by connecting with new hires to ensure that all new hire/onboarding paperwork is completed in a timely manner
- Backup the Off-boarding Specialist as needed to process terminations
- Prepare, maintain, and update all payroll and expense-related reports and tracking mechanisms
- Manage filing of non-immigrant and state unemployment mailed notices
- Responsible for conducting and documenting workers compensation, 401k audits, and Friend of the Court (FOC) Income Withholding Notice as required
- Complete verification of employment inquiries
- Compile data and report on EEO-1 filing
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in business or accounting preferred
- Previous experience processing multi-state payroll and expenses in a fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws and common fiscal procedures
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus
- Attention to detail is critical
- Maintain employee confidentiality, keep strong security measures including locked physical and password-protected digital files, and ensure employees only access information on a need-to-know basis
- Excellent verbal and written communication, along with strong organizational skills
- Strong computer literacy, including MS Office and Google suite
- Physically able to sit in front of a computer every work day for long hours at a time
- At least 2 days in our Livonia office per week
