Job summary

Randstad USA in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end multi-state payroll processing and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The role includes providing exceptional support to employees and collaborating with HR and Finance teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of multi-state payroll experience, strong Excel skills, and hands-on experience with major payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, SAP, or Oracle Payroll.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of multi-state payroll processing experience.
• Thorough working knowledge of U.S. federal/state tax laws, labor laws, FLSA guidelines, and garnishment rules.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) and payroll reporting.
• Hands-on experience with payroll systems such as ADP/Workday/SAP/Oracle Payroll.
• FPC or CPP certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Payroll Processing: End-to-end processing of bi-weekly/monthly payroll for multi-state employees.
• Compliance & Auditing: Audit timecard entries, tax withholdings, garnishments, and benefit deductions to ensure compliance.
• Employee Support: Primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and issue resolution.
• Reporting & Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll GL entries, prepare payroll reports, assist with year-end processes (W-2s, 1095-Cs).
• Process Improvement: Collaborate with HR and Finance to streamline payroll workflows and reporting.

About the Role We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our client in Houston, TX. In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end multi-state payroll processing, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and providing exceptional customer support to their employees.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 5+ years of dedicated multi-state payroll processing experience in a corporate or shared-services environment.
• Systems Expertise: Hands-on experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP, or Oracle Payroll).
• Tax & Compliance Knowledge: thorough working knowledge of U.S. federal/state tax laws, labor laws, FLSA guidelines, and garnishment rules.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and payroll reporting tools.
• Certifications (Preferred): FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, greatorganizational skills, discretion when handling confidential data, and excellent communication abilities.
