Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Payroll Specialist to oversee payroll operations, ensure accurate and timely processing, and maintain compliance with applicable laws. The role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and proficiency with payroll software and MS Office.

Responsibilities include managing daily payroll workflow, handling updates for hires and terminations, maintaining records, and supporting audits.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with payroll software.
  • Three to five years of related experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, commissions, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Monitor the HR Inbox and addresses issues related to payroll, the payroll system, employment verification, and changes to employee information that are confidential in nature.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Description

The Payroll Specialist will oversee and supervise the organization’s payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.

Responsibilities:

Physical Requirements:
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required infrequently.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
