Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in Reston, VA that is seeking a Payroll Specialist. Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Specialist to manage and ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the preparation, processing, and distribution of payroll, ensuring compliance with applicable labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies. Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly/monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy in timekeeping, deductions, and pay rates
  • Review and verify timesheets, attendance records, and other payroll data for accuracy
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal payroll tax laws and compliance requirements
  • Coordinate with HR to ensure new hires, terminations, and employee status changes are properly reflected in payroll
  • Calculate and track various deductions (e.g., taxes, benefits, garnishments, retirement contributions) in accordance with company policies and legal regulations
  • Prepare and submit payroll-related reports for management, government agencies, and benefits providers
  • Handle payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies or issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure payroll is processed in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to set deadlines
  • Assist with year-end reporting, including W-2 preparation and other tax filings
  • Maintain confidentiality of all payroll-related information

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of full-cycle payroll experience with organizations of 1000+ employees
  • ADP Workforce Now experience
  • Strong grasp of the end-to-end business process strong understanding of payroll requirements, laws, and regulations for employees working in the United States
  • Ability to work under pressure prioritize and complete tasks in order of importance
  • Experience with complex timesheet and payroll situations that require detailed knowledge of system functionality
  • Proficiency using various software, applications, and programs including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Positive, customer-service focus with the ability to actively listen, elicit information, comprehend customer issues/needs, and recommend solutions
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, follow-through on projects from conception to completion, and complete work accurately and timely with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated initiative/self-motivation, eagerness to learn, and attention-to-detail
  • Flexible and willing to adjust to the needs and priorities of a growing business.

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.

Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified in its discretion consistent with the law.
