Job summary

Brown Advisory Incorporated is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our Global People team. You will process US bi-weekly payroll and support monthly payrolls across UK, Germany, Japan, Singapore and UAE, ensuring timely, accurate pay and adherence to applicable laws.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of payroll experience, familiarity with Workday, and strong attention to detail. You will partner with HR and finance to ensure accurate earnings, deductions and tax filings, while maintaining

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of payroll software experience, preferably Workday.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Understanding multi-state payroll and tax reporting requirements.
  • Experience processing UK payroll is a plus.
  • CPP certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Process US bi-weekly payroll and monthly international payroll.
  • Utilize Workday payroll system.
  • Prepare payroll tax filings for multi-state/local and global payrolls.
  • Maintain payroll records and update policies as needed.
  • Respond to payroll requests from colleagues, managers, auditors and vendors.
  • Stay current with payroll regulations and best practices.

Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist reports to the Payroll Manager and will be responsible for processing US bi‑weekly payroll, along with monthly payrolls in the UK, Germany, Japan, Singapore and UAE, ensuring pay is processed on time and accurately.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  • Utilize Workday payroll system
  • Assist with the payroll entry and review process for 900+ colleagues globally
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure accuracy of earnings and deductions including taxable fringe benefits and garnishments
  • Prepare/finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll metric reports, annual compensation statements, and annual surveys
  • Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures as necessary
  • Maintain and organize payroll records in compliance with established retention policies
  • Prepare and review filing of multi‑state/local and global payroll taxes, ensuring payroll tax filings are timely and accurate
  • Process, maintain and resolve all items related to Federal, State and local payroll taxes in a timely manner
  • Prepare annual workers compensation insurance analysis
  • Review year‑end payroll processing including but not limited to the creation of W2s/W2cs, P11Ds, PAYE, Settlement Agreements and IR8As
  • Respond to payroll requests from colleagues, managers, auditors and vendors
  • Review workflows and implement streamlining measures
  • Remain current with professional knowledge
Minimum Qualifications
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience with Payroll Software (Workday a plus)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field preferred
  • Understanding of multi‑state payroll processing, including tax and other regulatory reporting requirements
  • Experience processing UK payroll a plus
  • Experience processing transactions related to equity compensation, stock options and deferred compensation
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office
  • Maintain colleague confidence and protect payroll operations by illustrating tact, discretion and good judgement in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Positive attitude and ability to interact well with others
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • CPP Certification a plus

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer‑sponsored work authorization (e.g., H‑1B, O‑1, F‑1 (OPT), TN or any other non‑immigrant visa classifications that require employer support or sponsorship).

MD Salary: $75,000–$85,000. Commensurate with experience and location. Does not include bonus or long‑term incentive eligibility (if applicable).
