Job summary

Current is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead payroll and retirement-plan execution for a portfolio of client businesses within Client Accounting Services. You will supervise delivery, mentor staff, coordinate with external providers, and process payroll when needed.

The role requires hands-on experience with retirement plans, end-to-end payroll processing, and strong communication with clients. A CPA or EA credential is preferred, with opportunities for growth within a national platform.

Qualifications

• Experience in US tax or tax-side payroll for closely held businesses.
• End-to-end payroll platform proficiency and multi-state filings.
• Ability to explain payroll and plan implications to clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead portfolio payroll planning and delivery, meeting calendars and standards.
• Verify payroll setups, changes, reports and client cash requests.
• Oversee multi-state filings, registrations, and reconciliations with Tax team.
• Coach staff, review workpapers and manage deadlines.
• Improve repeatable workflows and automation where possible.
