Job summary

North Slope Borough is seeking a Payroll Manager in Barrow, AK to oversee all borough payroll activities and ensure accurate processing and reporting. You will supervise the payroll team, coordinate changes with Controller and MIS, and maintain strict confidentiality of payroll data.

The role requires an associates degree and several years of payroll/accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities. Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong eye for compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in business or related field.
• Four years of clerical work experience.
• Four years of experience working with computers.
• Four years experience with payroll or accounting functions.
• One year of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation of the payroll section.
• Keeps abreast of changes affecting payroll processing and ensures updates in the payroll system.
• Direct the daily activities of the Payroll work group and supervise staff.
• Recruits, evaluates and supervises staff and coordinates staff development.
• Maintain confidentiality of payroll information and records.
• Process payroll, check runs and related transactions in compliance with applicable rules.
• Prepare and maintain payroll reports for internal and external entities.
• Respond to inquiries and provide technical payroll information to departments and management.
