Job summary

PAQ, Inc. in Lodi, California, is seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee all payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

The role leads the payroll team, manages system controls, handles escalated inquiries, and partners with HR, Finance, and Operations to optimize processes and reporting. Strong leadership and deep knowledge of payroll laws are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Admin, HR, or related field preferred.
• Seven years of progressive payroll experience including full-cycle payroll processing, payroll compliance, reporting, and system use.
• Certification from PayrollOrg (CPP or FPC) required or obtainable within first year.

Responsibilities

• Lead and train payroll staff; ensure accurate processing and compliance.
• Oversee daily payroll workflow; coordinate with HR, Finance, and Operations.
• Implement and maintain payroll controls and system updates.
• Prepare payroll records, reconciliations, audits, and reports for compliance and management review.
• Ensure compliance with federal, CA, state, and local wage, tax, and recordkeeping requirements.
• Respond to escalated payroll inquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with vendors on payroll tax activities and system integrations.
