Job summary

Physician Affiliate Group of New York is seeking an Assistant Director of Payroll to lead daily payroll operations across PAGNY sites, ensuring compliant, accurate processing. You will train staff, oversee audits, and collaborate with HR/Operations on payroll inquiries and labor allocations.

The role requires 6+ years of progressive payroll experience, advanced Paycom proficiency, and strong Excel skills. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is essential, with benefits and competitive

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or Management is required.
• Advanced payroll certification is preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years’ progressive payroll experience with supervisory responsibilities.
• Experience with union payroll requirements, labor allocations and accruals.
• Advanced proficiency in Paycom or similar payroll/time attendance systems is required.
• Strong Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and PivotTables; MS Office proficiency.
• Deep knowledge of payroll processes from onboarding to disbursement and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and support daily payroll operations across PAGNY sites.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local laws and confidentiality policies.
• Train and supervise payroll staff; onboard employees to payroll systems.
• Collaborate with HR and Operations on payroll inquiries and labor allocations.
• Guide on payroll tax laws and internal control adherence.
• Evaluate processes and implement improvements for accuracy and efficiency.
• Reconcile payroll data cross‑departmentally and produce timely reports.
• Resolve complex payroll issues; act as payroll subject‑matter expert.
• Support system optimization in Paycom and other HRIS platforms.
