Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) seeks an Assistant Director of Payroll to lead daily payroll operations across PAGNY sites, ensuring compliant, accurate, and timely processing. The role collaborates with HR, Finance, and site operations to optimize payroll systems and processes.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree, advanced payroll knowledge, and 6+ years of experience, with Paycom expertise and strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Management, or a related field.
• Advanced payroll certification preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years' progressive payroll experience with supervisory responsibilities.
• Experience with union payroll requirements and labor allocations.
• Advanced proficiency in Paycom or similar payroll systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily payroll operations across PAGNY sites, including time card review, audits, earnings code management, and bi-weekly processing.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, union requirements, internal policies, and confidentiality.
• Train and supervise Payroll staff, onboarding new employees to payroll systems (e.g., ESS Paycom).
• Collaborate with HR and Operations to address inquiries, support labor allocations, PTO profiles and accruals, and retroactive payments.
• Provide guidance on payroll tax laws and implement controls and procedures.
• Evaluate payroll processes and recommend improvements for accuracy and efficiency.
• Reconcile payroll data across departments and generate timely internal reports.
• Prepare payroll reports for stakeholders and respond to ad hoc requests.
• Resolve complex payroll issues across PAGNY sites.
