Job summary

Elmington, a privately owned real estate investment and development firm based in Nashville, is seeking a Payroll/Onboarding Specialist. You will manage the onboarding process to convert candidates into new hires and handle payroll tasks with precision and discretion.

Responsibilities include processing biweekly/semi-monthly payroll, verifying time records, maintaining HRIS data, and ensuring compliance with payroll laws. Strong Excel skills and knowledge of payroll regulations are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
• Experience with Paycor preferred, but other HR/payroll systems are required.
• Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations (FLSA, wage and hour, tax rules).
• Excellent Excel skills for payroll processing, data management and reporting.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate onboarding to move candidates to new hires.
• Verify I-9 documentation.
• Maintain employee information in the HRIS with accuracy.
• Learn HRIS and HR processes to support payroll.
• Process biweekly or semi-monthly payroll for all employees.
• Review, verify, and reconcile timesheets and attendance records.
• Maintain payroll records and update compensation changes.
• Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions per policy and law.
• Process deductions such as taxes, benefits, garnishments, retirement contributions.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws.
• Generate payroll reports for HR, Finance, leadership as needed.
• Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate with HR on status changes and benefits deductions.
