Job summary

La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club in San Diego seeks a Payroll Manager to lead the full payroll cycle, supervise the Payroll Specialist, and ensure compliance with payroll legislation and internal controls. You will partner with HR, Finance, and department leaders to maintain accurate payroll records and deliver timely payroll processing.

The role requires Workday HCM expertise, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, 4–5 years of payroll experience, and strong analytical and confidentiality

Qualifications

• Experience using Workday HCM, including updating employee data, running audits, generating reports, terminations, and supporting payroll integrations.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; 4–5 years' payroll experience or equivalent.
• Prior experience using Workday HRIS system.
• Working knowledge of Federal, State and City employment laws as they apply to the organization.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel, payroll processing, HRIS, report generation, and office automation.
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; ability to interpret data.
• Must lift up to 25 pounds.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English; Spanish language skills beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the full payroll cycle with timely processing.
• Supervise the Payroll Specialist and provide training and oversight.
• Maintain accurate payroll records in collaboration with HR and Finance.
• Ensure compliance with payroll laws, tax requirements, and internal controls.
• Manage payroll adjustments, bonuses, reimbursements, and garnishments.
• Process service charges and gratuities; provide payroll reports and reconciliations.
• Protect payroll confidentiality and assist with budgeting and forecasting.
