LHH has partnered with a reputable hospitality company to fill a Payroll Manager role in San Diego. This is a great management opportunity directing all payroll operations for 400+ employees, reporting to accounting and collaborating with HR and departmental leaders.

The ideal candidate will supervise one Payroll Specialist, oversee full cycle payroll, ensure compliance with federal/state/local laws, and drive accurate payroll changes, reports, and reconciliations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on payroll processing for ~500 employees.
• Leadership experience overseeing payroll staff.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws.

Responsibilities

The position reports to accounting yet works closely with HR and departmental leaders.

Key Responsibilities Of This Direct Hire Payroll Manager Position Include:

• Supervise, support, and mentor one Payroll Specialist.
• Oversee the full payroll cycle from start to finish, ensuring timely and accurate processing for 400+ employees.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll requirements, tax rules, and internal control procedures.
• Administer payroll changes, special payments, and reimbursements.
• Review and process gratuities and supplemental compensation.
• Generate payroll summaries, analytical reports, and reconciliation data for leadership.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience processing payroll for around 500 employees.
• Strong communication skills; Spanish is a preferred but not required.
• Prior leadership experience overseeing payroll staff.
• Strong understanding of employment laws at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Excellent organization, accuracy, and commitment to confidentiality.
