Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Payroll Manager to join our team in the Engineering industry. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage the payroll function within a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the overall management of payroll services and operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and internal policies. This role requires a professional with a strong understanding of payroll processes and systems, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Responsibilities
- 1. Oversee and manage all aspects of the payroll function including wage and hour law compliance, tax reporting, and payroll systems maintenance.
- 2. Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- 3. Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- 4. Implement and maintain payroll best practices to improve efficiency and consult with senior management to improve payroll and HRIS systems.
- 5. Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee payroll queries.
- 6. Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams.
- 7. Manage and oversee the processing of timesheets, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- 8. Conduct audits of payroll records to ensure accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- 9. Stay current with the latest technologies and trends in payroll processing.
- 10. Train and support team members in the use of payroll-related systems and processes.
Qualifications
- 1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- 2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a payroll management role, preferably in the engineering/ construction industry.
- 3. Proven experience with timesheet management and payroll implementation.
- 4. Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- 5. Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to payroll and employment.
- 6. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- 7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- 8. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
- 9. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- 10. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
- 11. Professional certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred.
- 12. Experience with payroll software, HRIS, and time and attendance systems.
