Job summary

DeWinter Group is seeking a Payroll Manager to own end-to-end payroll operations for a complex, multi-entity organization. The role reports to the VP Finance and focuses on accuracy, compliance, and building a consolidated payroll infrastructure across entities.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of payroll management with hands-on processing, experience with multiple payroll platforms, and CPP preferred. This is a high-visibility role with significant impact on controls and workflows.

Qualifications

• End-to-end bi-weekly payroll processing experience.
• Experience across multiple legal entities and EINs.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local wage and hour compliance.
• Payroll tax compliance knowledge and coordination with tax agencies.
• Year-end processing (W-2s) and payroll close activities.
• Strong Excel and data reconciliation skills.
• Experience preparing payroll support for financial audits and workers’ compensation audits.
• Excellent documentation, organization, and stakeholder communication.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Payroll Manager

Overview

We’re seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to own end-to-end payroll operations for a complex, multi-unit organization operating across multiple legal entities. This is a high-impact, highly visible role reporting directly to the VP Finance, with responsibility not only for accurate, compliant payroll processing, but also for strengthening controls, improving workflows, and leading a strategic payroll consolidation initiative to unify payroll infrastructure across entities.

Required Skills

• End-to-endbi-weekly payroll processingexperience (hands-on processing, not oversight only)
• Proven ability to manage payroll acrossmultiple legal entities and multiple EINs
• Strong knowledge offederal, state, and local wage and hour compliance, including multi-state considerations
• Working knowledge ofpayroll tax complianceand coordination with tax agencies as needed
• Experience withyear-end processing (W-2s)and payroll close activities
• StrongExcel and data reconciliationskills (auditing, tie-outs, discrepancy resolution)
• Experience preparing payroll support forfinancial auditsandworkers’ compensation audits
• Excellent documentation, organization, and stakeholder communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Have Skills

• Restaurant or hospitality payroll exposure, including:
  • Hourly and tipped employees
  • Tip credit considerations, tip pooling, split shifts, and restaurant overtime practices
• Experience with process automation and standardizing payroll best practices across locations/entities
• Prior involvement in enterprise change initiatives (system changes, workflow redesign, consolidation work)

Preferred Education and Experience

• 5+ yearsof payroll management experience with direct payroll processing responsibility
• Proficiency with a major payroll platform such asADP, Paychex, Paylocity, UKG, or equivalent
• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional)strongly preferred
