Beacon Hill is partnering with a non-profit in Manhattan to bring an experienced Payroll Lead to their team on a contract basis. This role oversees payroll operations across multiple entities and jurisdictions, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant processing.

You will collaborate with HR, Finance, and Payroll teams, strengthen internal controls, support audits and year-end activities, and develop scalable payroll processes to sustain business continuity.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of payroll experience
  • Experience leading payroll across multiple sites or jurisdictions
  • Strong knowledge of federal/state/local payroll regulations

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for payroll operations across multiple entities, locations, and jurisdictions.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing for a diverse employee population.
  • Partner with Human Resources, Payroll, and Finance teams to address payroll issues, resolve escalated concerns, and support ongoing operations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local payroll regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Evaluate and strengthen payroll processes, internal controls, and procedures to improve accuracy and reduce operational risk.
  • Support payroll audits, tax reporting, reconciliations, and year-end processing activities.
  • Identify payroll-related risks and implement corrective actions to support business continuity.
  • Provide guidance regarding payroll systems, third-party payroll providers, and outsourced payroll models.
  • Analyze payroll reports and metrics to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Finance on payroll accounting activities, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting requirements.

Beacon Hill is partnering with a non-profit in Manhattan to bring an experienced Payroll Lead to their team on a contract basis.This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across a complex, multi-site environment while supporting payroll teams, strengthening controls, and maintaining operational continuity.
