Job summary

Staffmark Group in Broussard, LA is hiring a Payroll and HR Clerk to support payroll and HR processes in a small-team setting. The role is located in Broussard, LA with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8 AM to 2 PM (30 hours per week).

The incumbent will handle bi-weekly payroll processing, benefits deductions, and 401(k) contributions, while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of payroll data. Strong detail orientation and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience.
• Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax deductions, garnishments, and employee benefits.
• Experience with payroll systems and accounting software.
• Ability to maintain confidential employee and payroll information.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to research and resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Experience with 401(k) administration and benefits deductions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
• Calculate employee wages, deductions, and payroll adjustments accurately.
• Enter and classify payroll journal entries into accounting software.
• Track employee work locations and ensure wages are allocated correctly.
• Process 401(k) contributions and company matching contributions.
• Administer employee garnishments and submit payments to the appropriate agencies.
• Calculate and maintain insurance deductions based on eligibility and dates.
• Prepare payroll reports related to earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages.
