Job summary

TPI, an employee-owned company based in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a Human Resources & Payroll Specialist to join our team on-site. The role centers on accurate payroll processing, primarily using Paylocity, plus HR data maintenance, benefits administration, and compliance support.

The ideal candidate will manage payroll deadlines, handle confidential information, support multi-state employees, and assist with onboarding, leave coordination, safety programs, and employee communications.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in HR, Business, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of multi-state payroll processing or HR admin.
• Experience using Paylocity strongly preferred.
• Strong payroll knowledge: deductions, tax withholding, timekeeping.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to handle confidential information and meet payroll deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Process biweekly payroll, review timecards, deductions, taxes, 401(k) deferrals.
• Maintain payroll records and generate reports.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with wage/hour laws.
• Assist with benefits administration, FMLA and leaves.
• Support onboarding, HR communications, and compliance records.
• Assist with safety programs and OSHA-related recordkeeping.
• Support recruiting and new hire processes.
