Job summary

SAN-Diego-Post--acute is seeking a Payroll Specialist to ensure accurate entry of payroll data for multi-state payrolls and timely processing of transactions. You will manage garnishments, prepare reports, issue paychecks or direct deposits, and maintain data privacy.

The role supports audits, month-end closing, and inquiries from staff. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401(k) matching.

Qualifications

• Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or GED.
• Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Accounting or Business-related field preferred.
• Strong verbal communications skills, ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents, and strong written communication.
• Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.

Responsibilities

• Process and monitor garnishment orders and other issues that impact payroll.
• Update payroll records by reviewing and entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, direct deposit, job titles and department transfers.
• Pay employees by directing paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
• Prepare reports by compiling data of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability and nontaxable wages.
• Audit and balance payroll prior to transmission to payroll vendor.
• Prepare and perform check runs and post transactions to journals and ledgers.
• Assist with month end closing and provide supporting documentation for audits.
