Job summary

University of Maryland, College Park is seeking a Program Manager, Payroll and Human Resources. The role oversees bi-weekly payroll for 500+ employees and ensures compliance with university policies and applicable laws, serving as the department’s HR and payroll expert.

You will manage end-to-end payroll operations for faculty, staff, and graduate assistants, while collaborating with central HR, payroll, and benefits teams to improve efficiency and data integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three (3) years of professional human resources or payroll experience.
• Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end administration and continuous improvement of payroll, appointment, onboarding, and offboarding processes for faculty, staff, and graduate assistants.
• Analyze payroll and HR data, interpret and apply University policy, develop departmental procedures and resources.
• Serve as the primary liaison to central HR, Payroll, Benefits, the Graduate School, and partner units.
