Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking a Junior Accountant to assist with accounting and payroll functions for the Del Oro and Golden State Divisions. Responsibilities include processing pay, verifying timekeeping, handling garnishments, generating payroll registers, and assisting with audits.

The role requires basic accounting education and 2 years of accounting experience, with strong attention to detail and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associates Degree, bachelor’s degree or Accounting Certification preferred.
• Two years’ experience in the accounting field.
• Must be computer literate with Word, Excel and Outlook and high accuracy.
• Experience with Shelby accounting software and/or Ultipro payroll software preferred.
• English language proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with payroll functions and employee timekeeping.
• Process wage garnishments and payroll registers.
• Assist with seasonal payroll (Christmas and Camp).
• Perform financial analyses on government grants.
• Post and process journal entries.
• Assist with audit preparation for external and internal audits.
• Support reviewing expenses and payroll records as assigned.
• Provide general accounting support to the Finance Department.
