Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a Junior Accountant to assist with the accounting and payroll functions for the Del Oro and Golden State Divisions. This role supports timely processing of payroll, timekeeping verification, and journal entries, contributing to accurate financial records and reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, an associates or bachelor’s in accounting preferred, and at least two years in accounting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associates Degree, bachelor's degree or Accounting Certification from an accredited college or trade school. preferred.
• Two years' experience in the accounting field. With an Accounting Degree or Certification, less experience will be considered.
• Must be computer literate and able to work in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or email program with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience with Shelby accounting software and/or Ultipro payroll software preferred.
• Must be able to understand, follow and receive English written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Pay employees by calculating pay and deductions and issuing checks.
• Assist locations in collecting and verifying timekeeping information for employees.
• Process wage garnishments.
• Generate payroll registers.
• Assist with seasonal payroll.
• Perform financial analyses on government grants.
• Process mobile bank deposits.
• Post and process journal entries.
• Assist with reviewing expenses and payroll records.
• Assist with audit preparation for external and internal audits.
