Job summary

The Ward Companies is seeking a Staff Accountant / Payroll Specialist to handle daily accounting and lead payroll processing. You will manage general ledger tasks, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close across multiple entities while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

You will collaborate with Human Resources and leadership to ensure payroll accuracy, timely processing, and compliance with company policies and applicable requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
• Minimum of 1–2 years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial data analysis.
• Strong organizational and communication skills including written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and research discrepancies.
• Prepare and post journal entries and assist with month-end close.
• Assist with intercompany reconciliations across entities.
• Process payroll accurately and on established deadlines.
• Coordinate with HR on new hires, changes, and payroll data.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure confidentiality of information.
• Respond to employee payroll questions in a timely manner.
