Job summary

Nicolet College is seeking a Payroll & General Accountant under the supervision of the Controller to manage biweekly payroll, grant accounting, and general ledger activities. The role provides expert guidance on payroll, grants, and accounting practices across the college.

Responsibilities include processing payroll, reconciling payroll data, preparing journal entries, and supporting audits. Knowledge of GAAP, state and federal regulations, and ERP systems such as Ellucian Colleague is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related area.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience.

Responsibilities

• Process biweekly payroll accurately and timely.
• Prepare journal entries and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts.
• Maintain employee payroll in the ERP system.
• Coordinate payroll tax reporting and annual W-2 processing.
• Track and account for grants and prepare grant reports.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations and assist with audits.
• Maintain accounting records and internal controls.
• Back up for Accounts Payable and Student Financial Services.
