Job summary

MainePERS is seeking a Data Reconciliation Associate to join the Employer Reporting team in Augusta, ME. This role performs essential data analysis and reconciliation of employer payroll data for MainePERS defined benefit plans, ensuring the accuracy of member data across systems.

The successful candidate collaborates with employer staff, MainePERS colleagues, and external auditors, applying strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficient Excel use to identify and correct

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Accounting or Business with two years of accounting experience.
• Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel at the intermediate level.
• Preferred: prior experience analyzing payroll files.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and reconcile employer payroll data.
• Research discrepancies, inconsistencies, missing information, and other data issues to determine potential causes and resolutions.
• Collaborate with employer staff, MainePERS employees, and internal and external auditors to research and resolve data issues.
• Recommend data corrections based on the results of analysis and reconciliation.
• Maintain detailed documentation and tracking of data analysis, reconciliation activities, findings, and proposed corrections.
• Prepare information and progress reports to management, employer staff, and auditors as required.
• May verify and approve data corrections processed by others.
• May support Employer Reporting Account Associates I, II, and III with reconciliations of individual employer accounts as needed.
