Job summary

Planet Group is seeking a Payroll Tax Compliance Specialist to join our Raleigh team on a 12-month contract. The role focuses on managing payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and compliance across multiple states, with proven Workday Payroll experience.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Form 941, W-2 processes, unemployment taxes, and robust Excel skills to support accurate reporting and timely filings in a hybrid Raleigh environment.

Qualifications

• Payroll tax compliance (Company Level) and filing.
• Federal, state, and local payroll taxes handled.
• Quarterly and annual tax reconciliation performed.
• Form 941 and W-2/W-2c processes managed.
• State unemployment insurance and related state payroll taxes handled.
• Tax amendments and prior-period corrections executed.
• Payroll tax notices and agency correspondence managed.
• Strong Excel and reconciliation skills.

Payroll Tax Compliance Specialist

Pay: $60- $64.75per hour

Duration:12month

Location:Raleigh, NC (Hybrid)

Overview: A payroll tax professional with demonstrated experience managing payroll tax filing, reconciliation, and compliance activities in a multi-state environment, combined with practical Workday Payroll experience.

Must-have experience

• Payroll tax compliance (Company Level) and filing
• Federal, state, and local payroll taxes
• Quarterly and annual tax reconciliation
• Form 941 and W-2/W-2c processes
• State unemployment insurance and related state payroll taxes
• Tax amendments and prior-period corrections
• Payroll tax notices and agency correspondence
• Workday Payroll
• Strong Excel and reconciliation skills

Strongly preferred

• ADP SmartCompliance experience
• Large, complex multi-state payroll environment
• Payroll tax testing in Workday
• Quarter-end and year-end tax processing
• Acquisition or payroll-transition experience
• Experience researching tax regulations and applying them to payroll
• Experience partnering with Payroll Operations, Accounting, Stock/Equity, HR, and external tax providers
