Job summary

Abode is seeking a Payroll Clerk to support full-cycle payroll for Alameda County programs. You will assist payroll specialists, ensure accuracy, handle employee reimbursements, and respond to payroll inquiries with excellent service.

The role requires a bachelor’s in accounting/finance, at least two years of payroll experience, and strong Excel and accounting software skills (Intacct, Paylocity). You’ll join a mission-driven team focused on ending homelessness in the Bay Area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration required.
• Minimum of 2-years’ experience in payroll administration and accounting functions.
• Demonstrated knowledge of payroll law and accounting principles.
• Advanced proficiency in accounting systems, Excel, database use, and other accounting software (Intacct and Paylocity strongly preferred).
• Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage the payroll process and resolve all payroll grievances.
• Oversee semi-monthly payroll processing and transactions.
• Maintain and input employee data into accounting systems (new hires, status changes, terminations).
• Provide login access for new hires to accounting systems and respond to payroll-related questions.
• Prepare final paychecks, including manual checks, for terminations.
• Process expense reimbursements in the accounting system.
• Assist Billing & Reimbursement with payroll inquiries.
• Provide any other reports and perform tasks as needed.
