Job summary

MV Transportation is seeking a Payroll Clerk to join our team in Chicago, IL. The successful candidate will accurately prepare and process payroll for all project employees on a bi-weekly basis and support administrative tasks related to employee files and monthly client reports.

You will collaborate with the Accounting Manager and Division Manager to ensure timely and accurate processing of staff hours, payroll data, and related accounting entries.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Data entry, payroll processing, clerical experience.
• Strong organizational skills.
• General knowledge of windows-based computer operating systems.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and follow directions.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Enter all payroll information daily in appropriate software and note discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate payroll templates to ensure hours are paid.
• Distribute paychecks bi-weekly.
• Prepare daily and weekly reports comparing revenue hours and payroll hours to county hours.
• Address employee concerns regarding hours, pay rates, taxes, garnishments, and discrepancies.
• Ensure payroll accounting accuracy in general ledger and monthly statements.
• Update and maintain payroll-related employee files.
• Process wage and salary increases accurately and promptly.
• Provide timely updates to employees via memoranda and other means.
• Other duties as assigned.
