Job summary

John F. Martin & Sons, LLC is a family-owned producer and distributor of meats and cheeses with five PA locations. The Payroll Clerk will support payroll for about 700 employees and help ensure accurate timekeeping, deductions, and year-end activities.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience in payroll or timekeeping systems is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Payroll, accounting, HR, or administrative experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing payroll for approximately 700 employees across five locations.
• Review and verify timekeeping records: regular hours, overtime, PTO, holidays, and other pay codes.
• Ensure overtime and other premium pay are accurately processed.
• Enter and maintain employee payroll information: new hires, pay changes, transfers, terminations.
• Process payroll adjustments, corrections, and other payroll transactions.
• Collaborate with supervisors to resolve timekeeping and payroll discrepancies.
• Process payroll for temporary employees.
• Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, time records, and routine payroll matters.
• Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.
• Assist with payroll reconciliations, audits, reporting, and year-end activities.
• Assist with employee deductions, garnishments, and payroll-related items.
• Follow company policies and applicable payroll requirements.
• Perform other payroll and administrative duties as assigned.

We are currently seeking a Payroll Clerk to join our team and support payroll operations for our continuously growing organization with approximately 700 employees across our five locations.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Clerk will assist with the accurate and timely processing of payroll for both regular and temporary employees. This is an important role for someone who enjoys working with numbers, paying close attention to details, and providing excellent service to employees and managers.

What We're Looking For

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
• Experience with payroll or timekeeping systems is a plus.
