Job summary

John F. Martin & Sons, LLC is seeking a Payroll Clerk to support payroll operations for about 700 employees across five Pennsylvania locations.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the role handles regular and temporary payroll with a focus on accuracy and confidentiality. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and prior payroll or administrative experience, plus strong Excel skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous payroll, accounting, HR, or administrative experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
• Experience with payroll or timekeeping systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing payroll for approximately 700 employees across five locations.
• Review and verify timekeeping records, including regular hours, overtime, PTO, holidays, and other pay codes.
• Ensure overtime and other applicable premium pay are accurately processed.
• Enter and maintain employee payroll information, including new hires, pay changes, transfers, and terminations.
• Process payroll adjustments, corrections, and other payroll transactions.
• Work with supervisors and managers to resolve timekeeping and payroll discrepancies.
• Process payroll for temporary employees.
• Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, time records, and other routine payroll matters.
• Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.
• Assist with payroll reconciliations, audits, reporting, and year-end activities.
• Assist with employee deductions, garnishments, benefits deductions, and payroll-related items.
• Follow company policies and applicable payroll requirements.
• Perform other payroll and administrative duties as assigned.
