This position supports the overall payroll process as well as specific payroll related functions.
greeting customers/employees, answering telephone call, directing those calls to the appropriate office or department, monitoring incomplete paperwork and communicating with departments about various steps or requirements throughout the process. The clerk in this position will also input data that results in employee pay.
Payroll process are reviewed for accuracy and all input is verified. The payroll office relies on electronic processes used by campus departments to initiate pay requests. The clerk in this position must be able to learn and navigate those systems. This position also offers guidance to system users.
High school diploma or equivalent
Proficiency using computer applications including Microsoft Office, including Excel, and email. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to accurately perform under the pressure of payroll deadlines.
The clerk in this position must be able to multi task, and effectively complete tasks with interruption throughout the entry process. The clerk in this position must be able to analyze and review data entry for errors. In addition to the technical requirements of the job, the clerk must be able to professionally and effectively interact with a very diverse employee population including faculty, staff, and student employees. Ability to become proficient with Banner
Knowledge of basic accounting theory. Experience working with a diverse population. Experience in a professional office environment.
