Job summary

University of Massachusetts Medical School is seeking a Financial Analyst I to perform complex financial and administrative functions, maintaining expenditure records and monitoring the department budget under direction. You will help ensure expenditures align with guidelines and prepare period financial reports.

The role includes payroll processing, HR policy guidance, and maintaining confidential personnel files.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
• 1 year in budgeting, accounting, administration, or related experience.
• Ability to design and program spreadsheets, databases, or custom reports.
• PeopleSoft experience a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and writing skills needed to present or communicate effectively with all levels of management.
• Must possess strong organizational skills, the ability to establish priorities, and resolve problems independently.

Responsibilities

• Process and monitor expenditures and budgets according to guidelines.
• Prepare and monitor department budget with director.
• Oversee payroll processing and personnel files.
• Advise on HR policies and procedures.
• Prepare financial reconciliations from department records to monthly reports.
• Maintain confidential reports and department personnel files.
• Independently initiate improvements to current operating procedures.
• Serve as a resource to others on technical, professional, or policy issues.
• Schedule and arrange meetings.
• Perform other job related duties as required or assigned.
