M Force Partners is seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Specialist to manage accurate, timely payroll processing and day-to-day employee benefits administration for a multi-shift workforce. This position will oversee timecard review, payroll changes, benefit enrollment, deductions, reconciliations, employee support, and related HR records and controls.
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will work closely with managers and employees to resolve payroll and benefits questions while applying knowledge of federal and Maryland wage-and-hour requirements. This position will also provide planned front-office and administrative support as part of the HR team.
The ideal Payroll & Benefits Specialist has hands-on experience processing hourly payroll and administering employee benefits with strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to consistently meet payroll deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process payroll, including timecards, missing punches, overtime, shift differentials, leave, and approved pay changes
- Work with managers to correct timekeeping issues and review payroll reports for discrepancies before submission
- Enter and verify new hires, status changes, terminations, deductions, garnishments, and other payroll transactions
- Administer medical, dental, vision, retirement, HSA/FSA, and other applicable employee benefits
- Manage benefit enrollments, qualifying life events, terminations, vendor updates, and open enrollment
- Reconcile benefit invoices, payroll deductions, and vendor records and resolve discrepancies
- Respond to employee questions regarding pay, timekeeping, leave balances, benefit coverage, enrollment, and deductions
- Apply working knowledge of federal and Maryland wage-and-hour requirements, overtime, recordkeeping, paid leave, and payroll deductions
- Maintain accurate payroll and benefits records and support payroll, benefits, and compliance audits
- Maintain confidentiality of employee, payroll, and benefits information
- Develop or improve payroll and benefits SOPs, checklists, reconciliations, and workflows
- Provide scheduled front-office coverage, including incoming calls, visitors, and other administrative support as needed
- Support employee communications, HR administrative projects, and other related responsibilities
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years of hands-on payroll processing experience
- At least 2 years of benefits administration experience
- Experience processing payroll for hourly employees, including overtime, shift differentials, timecard corrections, and deductions
- Experience with benefits enrollment, qualifying life events, open enrollment, and deduction or vendor reconciliations
- Working knowledge of federal and Maryland wage-and-hour and payroll requirements
- Experience developing or improving SOPs, checklists, reconciliations, or payroll and benefits workflows
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, payroll/HRIS systems, and benefits administration platforms
- Strong attention to detail, organization, recordkeeping, and confidentiality
- Ability to meet firm payroll deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication skills when working with employees, managers, vendors, and visitors
- High school diploma or equivalent
- U.S. Citizenship required due to applicable government contract requirements
