Job summary

Chapa-De Indian Health Program, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Coordinator/Benefits Specialist to join our team in Auburn, CA.

You will support payroll processing and benefits administration, review timesheets and deductions, and help maintain accurate payroll data across HRIS platforms. The ideal candidate has experience with payroll concepts, taxes, and wage-hour rules, and is comfortable working with Excel and related payroll systems.

Qualifications

• Experience in payroll, benefits, human resources, accounting, or a related function.
• Experience reviewing timesheets, employee changes, deductions, benefits, or other payroll-related transactions.
• Working knowledge of payroll practices, deductions, taxes, and wage and hour requirements.
• Experience with an HRIS or payroll system; UKG Ready experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, with strong data analysis skills.

Hourly Pay:

Payroll Coordinator: $30.00-$34.00

Payroll $ Benefit Specialist: $34.00-$39.00

Benefit Highlights:

• Employer-paid Health Insurance (medical, dental and vision): 100% for employee and 80% for dependents.

• 17 days PTO per year, 11 Paid Holidays, 8+ Sick Days (1 hour for every 30 hours worked)

• Retirement Plan with 6% match

• Eligible for remote work 2 days per week after the 6-month introductory period.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications

• Previous experience in payroll, benefits, human resources, accounting, or a related function, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experience reviewing timesheets, employee changes, deductions, benefits, or other payroll-related transactions.

• Working knowledge of payroll practices, deductions, taxes, and wage and hour requirements, with an interest in continuing to build payroll expertise.

• Experience working with an HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, or similar business system; UKG Ready experience is a plus.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, with the ability to organize, review, and analyze detailed information.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies, research issues, and work through solutions.

• Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-service mindset and the ability to build positive working relationships throughout the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience supporting payroll processing and/or employee benefits administration.

• Experience with payroll taxes, reconciliations, reporting, or general ledger processes.

• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Payroll-related training, coursework, or certification is a plus.
