Job summary

Suno is scaling rapidly and is seeking its first internal Payroll Accounting Manager to own end-to-end payroll processing, ensure accurate and timely pay, and maintain compliance as our footprint expands in the United States. The role reports to the Director of Accounting and partners with People and external payroll providers to run payroll cleanly each cycle.

You will drive automation and AI initiatives to speed payroll while preserving accuracy, build scalable controls, and stand up payroll

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of payroll experience at a high-growth company
• Extremely high discretion and ownership of confidential matters
• Deep knowledge of multi-state payroll compliance (tax withholding, filings, wage-and-hour)
• Hands-on experience with payroll systems (Rippling, Gusto, ADP, Workday)
• Strong payroll accounting skills—reconciling payroll to the GL
• Demonstrated use of AI/automation to speed and accuracy in payroll
• Builder mindset — able to set up/document/operate/automate with limited infra

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end payroll processing across all pay cycles, ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Manage compliance across federal, state, and local requirements
• Partner with People team on onboarding, changes, benefits, equity payroll, and off-boarding
• Manage third-party payroll providers and reconcile payroll to the GL
• Build policies, controls, and documentation for scalable payroll
• Bring AI and automation to payroll with guardrails to improve speed and accuracy
