Job summary

Durham Exchange Club Industries (DECI) seeks a detail-oriented Payroll & Accounts Payables Specialist to manage payroll, deductions, timekeeping, and associated accounting tasks. This role supports both staff and program participants and helps maintain financial health for a mission-driven nonprofit.

The ideal candidate has payroll experience, proficiency with Paylocity or similar systems, and a solid foundation in Excel and basic accounting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required with a minimum of two years' payroll processing experience.
• Coursework or training in accounting, finance, or business is a plus.
• Prior experience in accounts payable/receivable, or general accounting preferred.
• Experience in nonprofit or human services environment is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll for staff and program participants with accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage direct deposits, check distribution, and payroll reporting.
• Maintain up-to-date employee deductions (health, dental, garnishments, 401(k), etc.).
• Handle PTO balances and supporting documentation.
• Process accounts payable invoices with accuracy and proper coding.
• Prepare deposits for cafeteria related revenue.
• Assist with year-end audit preparation and audits.
