Payroll and Benefits Team Lead

This position is located in the Division of Operations, Office of Human Resources, Payroll and Benefits Services. The Department of Justice requires applicants to submit an SROA/Surplus Letter if that is the basis of their eligibility.

Job Description And Duties

Are you someone who has a passion for payroll transactions & benefits? Are you seeking an opportunity to utilize your research, creative problem solving, and critical thinking skills? Then this is the position for you!

  • Under direction of the Staff Services Manager (SSM) I, the Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) independently performs complex and varied analytical and technical transaction duties within the PBS Unit.
  • Review various control agency letters and develop and implement staff procedures.
  • Serve as an expert staff resource responsible for consultation in the most sensitive and complex human resources areas.
  • Provide refresher‑training classes pertaining to personnel, payroll, benefits, leave accounting, timekeeping, and other Office of Human Resources related subjects for internal and external staff.
  • Complete special projects determined by the SSM I and assist with managing workload associated with vacant rosters, complex technical issues, auditing, and backlogged work.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external departmental staff as well as control agency personnel.
Work Conditions

This position has been designated as eligible for telework. Initially requires in‑person attendance 4 days per week on a recurring basis. After the training period, the candidate will be eligible for a hybrid schedule. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time.
