Job summary

Wilson Elser in New York City Midtown is seeking a Payroll Analyst to support accurate, timely payroll across a multi-state organization. You will review payroll data, reconcile inputs, and collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve issues.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in payroll, experience with Workday Payroll, strong Excel skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with care. This full-time role offers a hybrid schedule and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• Experience with Workday Payroll is required.
• 3+ years of progressive payroll experience in a multi-state environment.
• Knowledge of law firm payroll practices including partner compensation and multi-state payroll.
• Advanced Excel skills (lookup, pivot, data validation, large datasets).
• Ability to manage confidential information and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end processing and review of multiple payrolls across states and pay groups.
• Validate inputs: new hires, terminations, changes, bonuses, leave adjustments, deductions, and direct deposits.
• Perform pre- and post-payroll audits for accuracy of gross-to-net calculations and tax withholdings.
• Prepare and reconcile payroll reports and payroll journal entries.
• Investigate discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions with stakeholders and vendors.
• Review multi-state tax withholding and localization changes for compliance.
