Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with Workday Payroll.
• 3+ years of progressive payroll experience in a complex, multi-state environment.
• Payroll practices specific to law firms, including partner compensation and bonuses.
• Knowledge of gross-to-net calculations, taxes, deductions, and year-end reporting.
• Experience performing payroll audits, reconciliations, variance analysis, and discrepancy research.
• Advanced Excel skills including lookups, pivot tables, data validation, and large data set reconciliation.
• Ability to handle confidential information and multiple deadlines with accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end processing of multiple payrolls across states and frequency types.
• Validate inputs such as hires, terminations, changes, and one-time transactions.
• Perform pre- and post-payroll audits for accuracy of calculations and reporting.
• Prepare and reconcile payroll reports and journal entries.
• Investigate discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions.
• Reconcile retirement and HSA contributions with vendor records.
• Review multi-state tax withholding and work-location changes.
• Support quarterly and year-end payroll activities and tax reconciliations.
• Prepare payroll data for Finance, Benefits, HR, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain audit support, checklists, and reconciliations.
• Assist with payroll system implementations and data conversions to Workday.
• Identify opportunities to improve controls and efficiency.
