Memphis, TN – The City of Memphis, Solid Waste division, is seeking an Administrative Support Specialist to assist service centers with data entry, payroll processing, and standard accounting tasks.
Responsibilities include maintaining personnel files, archiving documents, ensuring audit-ready reports, and coordinating with the 311 Support Center to resolve citizen requests, while supporting general administrative operations.
Salary Range:$45,796.40 - $68,694.60
Works under the general direction of assigned supervisor to provide administrative support to service centers within the division.
Interacts and communicates verbally and in writing with the general public, other team members, and management on a variety of issues and concerns to support administrative operations as neede d.

Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment such as a computer and telephone.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS :
Majority of work is performed in office environment. May require some work in an environment whereas exposed to odors and noise.
Associate’s degree in Business or Public Administration or a related field and four (4) years’ experience in administrative support functions; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Working experience using MS Word, MS Excel, and Oracle software preferred.
Shelby County Residency Requirement
The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire. As defined by Tennessee Senate Bill No. 29, "first responder" means paid, full-time law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.
