Runway Search, LLC is seeking a Payroll Analyst to join our Finance & Accounting team. This hands-on role requires strong payroll processing experience and keen attention to detail to ensure accurate multi-state and international payroll operations.

You will manage payroll workflows, reconciliations, and tax accounts, while coordinating contractor payments and supporting benefits programs in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll experience including multi-state U.S. payroll and international payroll.
• Strong knowledge of California payroll regulations, wage statement compliance, meal/rest periods, and related state rules.
• Experience reconciling payroll-related accounts (benefit deductions, retirement contributions, employer matching, GL).
• Hands-on experience establishing and maintaining payroll tax accounts with state agencies.
• Knowledge of federal/state payroll tax obligations, including unemployment insurance and withholding.
• Familiarity with equity compensation tax reporting (RSUs, stock options) is desirable.
• Experience with cloud-based payroll/HRIS platforms (Rippling a plus).

Responsibilities

• Perform payroll processing for employees for multi-state U.S. payroll and assist with international payroll.
• Coordinate monthly payments for global contractors, ensuring timesheets are collected, approvals are completed, and payments are processed accurately and on time.
• Perform payroll reconciliations, including employee benefit deductions, retirement plan contributions, employer matching, and general ledger balances.
• Assist with establishing and maintaining employer payroll tax accounts across various state jurisdictions as the organization expands.
• Provide administrative support for employee benefits and retirement programs, including contribution reviews, compliance testing, and employee separation requirements.
• Coordinate employee expense reimbursements, ensuring proper approvals, accurate accounting treatment, and integration between payroll and financial systems.
• Maintain organized payroll records and supporting schedules for audits, financial reporting, and quarterly and annual close processes.
• Evaluate existing payroll workflows and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, minimize manual processes, and strengthen internal controls.
• Assist with payroll-related reporting and tax considerations associated with employee equity awards and stock option exercises.
