Job summary

Phyton Talent Advisors seeks a Payroll Processing and Administration professional to ensure accurate payroll, handle timekeeping, and maintain compliance with university policies and bargaining agreements. Job description

Payroll Processing and Administration
  • Process and review payroll transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with University policies, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Audit payroll data, including timekeeping records, pay codes, earnings, deductions, overtime, shift differentials, and leave transactions to ensure payroll accuracy prior to payroll close.
  • Process payroll adjustments, retroactive payments, off-cycle payrolls, supplemental earnings, termination pay, and leave payouts.
  • Ensure accurate application of wage rates, premiums, shift differentials, and contractual provisions under applicable union agreements, including 32BJ, TWU, and other bargaining units.
  • Review payroll exceptions and resolve discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner.
Timekeeping and Workforce Operations
  • Monitor and reconcile employee time and attendance records within workforce management systems, including UKG/Kronos and related applications.
  • Collaborate with managers and departmental administrators to resolve timekeeping discrepancies and ensure compliance with attendance and scheduling requirements.
  • Support scheduling and workforce management initiatives through accurate maintenance of workforce data and payroll records.
  • Maintain cross-functional knowledge to support payroll and workforce operations across multiple portfolios and departments.
Compliance, Auditing, and Reporting
  • Perform routine payroll audits and validation checks to ensure adherence to internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Generate, analyze, and distribute payroll reports related to earnings, taxes, leave balances, labor distribution, overtime, and workforce metrics.
  • Support internal and external audits by gathering documentation, researching transactions, and responding to audit inquiries.
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts and deductions, including taxes, benefit deductions, retirement contributions, union dues, and garnishments.
Employee and Customer Support
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries, providing timely, professional, and customer-focused support.
  • Research and resolve payroll-related issues, ensuring clear communication regarding pay calculations, deductions, taxes, and adjustments.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (TAM, Employee Services, IT, Labor Relations, etc.) on strategic initiatives.
  • Managers/supervisors to address payroll concerns and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Educate employees and managers on payroll procedures, deadlines, and system requirements.
Systems Support and Continuous Improvement
  • Participate in payroll system testing, upgrades, implementations, and maintenance activities involving payroll and workforce management systems.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives designed to enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and customer service.
  • Maintain payroll documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process guides.
  • Provide cross-training and backup support for payroll and workforce operations functions to ensure continuity of operations
