Job description

The Payroll Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll across the organization while maintaining compliance with all applicable payroll laws and internal policies. This role plays a critical part in payroll execution, data integrity, and regulatory compliance, serving as a key resource for payroll operations, audits, and system support. Primary responsibilities include end-to-end payroll processing, payroll compliance and reporting, and payroll systems support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule by reviewing time and attendance data, payroll changes, and compensation updates including new hires, terminations, and promotions
  • Calculate and validate gross pay, overtime, deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential payroll records
  • Prepare payroll reports and data feeds for internal stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Ensure payroll operations comply with federal, state, and local payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, tax requirements, and organizational policies
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, record inconsistencies, and employee payroll inquiries
  • Partner with internal departments to ensure accurate payroll-related data exchange
  • Support internal and external payroll audits
  • Participate in year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reconciliation
  • Assist with payroll system administration, testing, upgrades, and process improvements
  • Perform additional payroll-related tasks as assigned
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of payroll processing experience
  • Experience supporting multi-jurisdictional payrolls
  • Payroll experience within a professional services or similarly complex organization preferred
Special Requirements
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or related certification preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential employee data in accordance with best practices and policy
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency with automated payroll systems; experience with UKG or similar payroll platforms preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research discrepancies and propose solutions
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent payroll activities and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate payroll reports and documentation
  • Effective collaboration skills across teams and organizational levels
