Job summary

Raptor Materials is seeking a payroll administrator to manage payroll processing, records, and benefits coordination within our plant and department teams. The role emphasizes confidentiality and compliance with state and federal payroll regulations.

You will handle union and non-union payrolls, maintain records, generate reports, and support onboarding and HRIS interactions. Strong MS Office skills and attention to detail are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 8 years’ experience utilizing a computerized payroll database. UKG system experience preferred with union payroll experience.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal payroll regulations.

  • Update and maintain employee records in UKG system.
  • Issue manual checks as needed and generate required reports.
  • Reconcile taxes and deductions.
  • Monitor attendance, FMLA, and vacation time compliance.
  • Coordinate benefits administration and wellness program activities.
  • Recruiting and onboarding activities.
  • Answer employee questions regarding payroll and administrative issues.

Job description

Responsible for the administration of payroll, benefits, and office activities. Handle sensitive and confidential personnel information and must keep that information confidential. Coordinate and administer activities that support plant operations and employee services. Responsible for preparation of payroll, attendance records, and miscellaneous reports for plant and department managers.

REGULAR DUTIES
  • Process one union and two non-union payrolls using UKG Pro Payroll and UKG Dimensions for timekeeping.
  • Update and maintain employee records in UKG System.
  • Issue manual checks as needed and generate required reports.
  • Follow all Internal Audit controls and the Corporate Payroll Processing Handbook.
  • Reconcile taxes and deductions.
  • Monitor leave of absences to ensure compliance with attendance policy, disability plans and Family Medical Leave of Absence (FMLA) regulations.
  • Monitor vacation time and service award eligibility.
  • Provide third party contact information for job verifications.
  • Payroll related Local, State and Federal filings.
  • Maintain payroll, personnel, medical and workers’ compensation files.
  • Coordinate benefits administration and wellness program activities.
  • Recruiting and onboarding activities.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Share Services Benefits, HR, HRIS and Payroll.
  • Answer employee questions regarding payroll and administrative issues.
  • Assist managers with administrative functions including CBA interpretation, preparation of documents and records required for contract negotiations and union meetings.
  • Facilitate special events such as safety luncheons, holiday parties and recognition programs.
  • Monitor compliance of company policies and applicable laws and regulations.

All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5 to 8 years’ experience utilizing a computerized payroll database. UKG system experience preferred with union payroll experience.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal payroll regulations.
  • Advanced skills using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Teams).
  • Strong written and verbal skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and to handle confidential matters with discretion.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Physically capable of climbing stairs.
  • Proficient verbal and written skills.
  • Must be able to read papers and reports without assistance.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must have manual dexterity. Continual hand/wrist motion is required to operate computers and office machinery.
  • Must be able to occasionally stoop and/or bend to perform general office duties.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Occasional local travel in a personal vehicle is required to run errands and attend offsite meetings.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is performed in the office portion of a plant setting.
  • Normal work hours are 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Must be flexible to attend occasional meetings outside of normal work hours as required.
