Essex Solutions Inc. is seeking a Payroll Analyst to accurately process payroll for all employees and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

The role supports audits, tax reporting, and employee inquiries, while upholding confidentiality and exceptional service. The ideal candidate will manage bi-weekly and monthly payrolls, review time records and earnings adjustments, administer deductions, and perform payroll tax filings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field is required.
  • 3–5 years of payroll administration/analysis experience.
  • Experience processing payroll for multiple employee populations preferred.
  • Proficiency with payroll software; ADP experience preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll for multiple employee groups and classifications.
  • Ensure payroll activities comply with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Review and validate time records, shift differentials, overtime, incentives, bonuses, and other earnings adjustments.
  • Administer payroll-related deductions, garnishments, benefits withholdings, and other payroll transactions.
  • Conduct regular payroll audits for data integrity and compliance.
  • Prepare, reconcile, and submit payroll tax filings and related reports to agencies.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and system-related issues promptly.
  • Maintain payroll records and documentation per policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Support payroll reporting, month-end activities, audits, and special projects.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and operations to ensure accurate data and processing.

Position Overview

Education

Experience
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of payroll administration, payroll analysis, or related experience.
  • Experience processing payroll for multiple employee populations preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of payroll practices, procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with payroll software systems; experience with ADP preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment, discretion, and integrity.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Computer Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
  • Knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with union payroll processes and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Experience with payroll audits, tax compliance, and reporting requirements.
