About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and oversee accurate, timely bi-weekly payroll for a large, multi-state workforce. This role blends hands-on payroll leadership, system ownership, regulatory compliance, and people management, while partnering closely with Finance, HR, and operations.

You’ll serve as the payroll systems superuser, ensure compliance with evolving payroll regulations, support audits, and continuously improve processes to drive efficiency and accuracy.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and ensure accurate, on-time bi-weekly payroll for 4,000+ employees
• Serve as superuser for timekeeping, scheduling, analytics, and payroll systems
• Oversee payroll tax filings, W-2s, and multi-state compliance
• Prepare and submit PBJ nurse staffing reports to CMS
• Manage payroll reconciliations and support internal/external audits
• Supervise, mentor, and develop payroll staff
• Analyze payroll practices and implement improved controls and efficiencies
• Collaborate cross-functionally and support employees with payroll inquiries

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of payroll experience in a large organization (2,000+ employees)
• 3+ years in a payroll leadership or manager role
• Experience with automated payroll and timekeeping systems
• Workday and Dimensions/Kronos preferred
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, functions)
• Deep understanding of payroll regulations and general ledger impacts
• Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills
