Job summary

Delta Dental of Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana is seeking a Payroll Accounting Analyst to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing with proper deductions in compliance with company policy and laws.

You will administer multi-state payroll cycles, verify time data, and coordinate with third-party vendors to support accurate payments. The role includes analyzing payroll data, preparing journal entries, and reconciling ledgers in a hybrid Okemos, MI setting.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate’s degree in accounting or related field.; FPC certification preferred.
• Two years’ payroll, financial accounting, or financial reporting experience.
• Workday experience preferred; alternative education/experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Administers complete multi-state payroll cycle including data entry and data verification; balances time and attendance data.
• Communicates and coordinates with third-party payroll vendors.
• Assists with analyzing, auditing, and reconciling payroll to ensure accuracy.
• Provides research and recommendations to ensure payroll reporting complies with policy, CBAs, GAAP, and regulations.
• Prepares journal entries and reconciles payroll sub-ledger to GL.

Position Description:

To ensure accurate and timely pay to all employees with appropriate deductions and withholding in compliance with company policy, and federal, state, and IRS regulations.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Administers all necessary steps to process a complete multi-state payroll cycle including data entry and data verification as well as balancing of time and attendance data.
• Communicates and assists with third party vendor processing of payroll.
• Assists with analyzing, auditing, and reconciling to ensure accurate payroll processing.
• Provides research and recommendations to ensure payroll reporting and payments are compliant with company policy, collective bargaining agreements, generally accepted accounting principles, and federal, state and IRS regulations for the company and its affiliates.
• Prepares journal entries and reconciles payroll sub-ledger reporting to general ledger.

Perform other related assigned duties as necessary to complete the Primary Job Responsibilities as described above.

Minimum Requirements:

Position requires an associate’s degree in accounting or a related field; FPC Fundamental Payroll Certification preferred; two years' experience in payroll, financial accounting, or financial reporting. Workday experience is preferred. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.

Position requires effective verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and problem solving skills and knowledge of automated payroll systems as well as knowledge of basic Microsoft Excel and Word functionality.
