Job summary

Staffmark Group is seeking an experienced Payroll Accountant to oversee end-to-end payroll and related accounting functions in Scott, LA. You will ensure accurate, timely pay, maintain payroll records, perform reconciliations, and support tax and reporting compliance.

The role requires 3–5+ years of payroll/Accounting experience, proficiency with payroll software, and strong attention to detail. CPP/FPC and multi-state payroll experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of payroll and accounting experience.
• Experience processing full-cycle payroll.
• Knowledge of payroll taxes, benefits, reconciliations, and GL accounting.
• Experience with payroll and accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Experience with multi-state payroll environments preferred.
• CPP or FPC certification preferred.
• Experience with QuickBooks and ADP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees.
• Process payroll adjustments, off-cycle payrolls, and manual checks.
• Review time, attendance, overtime, commissions, bonuses, and deductions.
• Prepare payroll journal entries and maintain accurate records.
• Reconcile payroll accounts, GL accounts, payroll taxes, and benefits deductions; coordinate tax filings and W‑2s.
• Reconcile health insurance and employee benefit invoices.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
• Support audits and provide payroll documentation as needed.
• Identify process improvements and maintain payroll controls.
• Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
